Complete Brewery Guide to the Central Oregon Coast

Welcome to the COMPLETE BREWERY GUIDE to the Central Oregon Coast.

This section of the guide will include the 11 breweries currently located between Lincoln City and Florence.

The FULL BREWERY GUIDE  will allow you to access all of the other breweries along the coast.

‘Drink local beer’ was one of the items on my personal Travel Oregon Bucket List because I believe in drinking the local creations when you travel. Beer is a drink of the people, made by the people, and for the people and a true taste into the community.

I have personally visited all of these breweries, chatted with staff, drank their beer, all in the efforts to help YOU pick some beautiful cities and cool breweries to experience during your time on the incredible Oregon Coast.

Disclaimer; I have done my best to ensure accurate information at the time of posting but things change. Please leave me a comment or send me a message if you find anything to be incorrect. Much of the Oregon Coast is seasonal based, busy from May-September, the offseason may impact hours and days of operation for any businesses.

How To Use This Guide;

We will work our way from North to South. All of the links to specific beers below are to the app/website Untappd. They are the beers I personally drank. If you Untappd it too, please ADD ME HERE [I love to see what other people are drinking.]

LINCOLN CITY;

McMenamins Lighthouse Brewpub

For those of you that don’t reside in the PNW, the McMenamins name might not mean much to you. You can find their locations across Oregon and into Washington as well. Some of their locations are hotels, restaurants, music venues, distilleries, breweries, and the list goes on. Many times they buy old buildings and repurpose them, maintaining and honoring the history of the building. This particular McMenamins location is not as old as many of their historic buildings, located in a strip mall area with plenty of surrounding business, but it has history nonetheless. The most notable piece of information being that they were the first post-prohibition brewery to open on the Oregon Coast. Notorious for their ‘hippie-like’ and slow-paced method of brewing, this location opened in ’86 and you can still look in on the brewers today as you enjoy some beer or food in the two-story restaurant.

Rusty Truck

Located on the 101, the rusty red truck is visible from the road, giving away the location to this brewery. Their large parking lot allows access to both their restaurant and tasting room. At the time of visiting (March 2019), the restaurant is being remodeled, leaving only the small tasting room attached to the brewery available to visit. The tasting room provides an intimate setting with a small bar, a handful of tables and even a patio to sit out in the fresh air. You can look in at their brewhouse and see ‘Thirst Rescue,’ one of their several cool restored cars

NEWPORT;

Bier One Brewing

As you drive through the heart of Newport on Highway 101, you will see Bier One Brewing surrounded by other small local shops. Inside is a surprisingly large space with two slightly-separated rooms filled with seating and a small patio. There is a great beer selection, guaranteeing something for any beer drinker’s preferences (I had a hard time choosing just 4 for my flight board!) Overall the vibe is relaxed, it is somewhere you could spend some serious time sampling beers in good company, especially with the friendly locals and bartender.

Wolf Tree Brewery Taproom

On the southern outskirts of Newport, located down a quiet road off of Highway 101, you can find the Wolf Tree Brewery Taproom. **This is one you will want to map and MAKE SURE that you choose the taproom location (as the actual production brewery is a working cattle farm and quite a bit out of the way.)

They are located on the second level of a corner building with some signage (‘There’s Beer Upstairs!’) to guide you into their small and intimate taproom. Inside you will find a seating area with some long tables and a bartop decorated with locals. There are cool beers happening here and a quiet ambiance to work on your laptop, read a book, or make new friends while you sip some delicious brews.

YACHATS;

Yachats Brewing

One of my TOP 5 BREWERIES TO VISIT ON THE OREGON COAST. Not only are they producing some of the coolest beers but the ambiance of the brewery is something special. Order your food and beer at the counter and find a spot to sit in their wood decored taproom, outside at a picnic table, or back in their ‘beer garden’ greenhouse area. Yachats itself is an isolated little town with a close-knit community and people will drive from far up and down the coast to come here for a beer.
